He covers the emergence of both fate and free will as philosophical constructs in history, the manifestation of determinism and nondeterminism in applied disciplines like clinical psychology, and how specific developments in clinical and experimental research (i.e., lesion studies, brain pathology, Benjamin Libet's mind-matter interaction experiments, his own precognitive dream research) inform the debate. The conclusion tendered is sensitive to the sum of theoretical, clinical, and experimental findings.
